How do you differentiate between a troll and someone who is misinformed?

He made a negative statement about a popular language and provided no factual support. He is not advancing the discussion. If he was open to the idea that Haskell has practical use, he would have indicated so in his post.

Popular? Um, no. "Increasingly popular" might be true, but "popular" is a bit of a stretch.

The problem that I see is more that the quality of the working environment is part of the practicality of using the language. That is, I think his criticism is self-contradictory. (Plus, the way it's worded just smells like a troll...)

These kinds of comments tend to derail threads, kronos is a pretty cool project but now 1/4 of the comment section is discussing how 'practical' Haskell is.

There are other threads that discuss the merits of Haskell

The thread doesn't have a limited size. This isn't stopping people from discussing Kronos.

Attention and time is a limited resource, especially with HN having no comment folding.

If you use Firefox I highly recommend the HN Utility Suite. (I'm sure there is something similar for Chrome too). Having collapsible comments is a big improvement.

and the plain dumb...
