Skipping or eating light for breakfast has worked miracles for me. While agreed that it is definitely not a license to eat however much you want, there are some convincing arguments that eating in this pattern (particularly delaying carbohydrate intake until the evening hours) creates metabolic inefficiencies that cause more of the consumed energy from the diet to be "wasted", perhaps giving a person a couple hundred calories of leeway in their diet and still see effective weight control.
