It seems to me that unless you have a decent window manager, working on a 4k display will bring it's own set of (small) productivity hurdles. For example, Windows 7's DWM without any additional software works Well Enough on two/three smaller monitors, but how usable is it at 4k resolutions? Do you have to spend tons of time dragging windows around?
