He even lost part of hearing due to his "experiments". You might know him better as a founder of Intel, or the guy that "Moore's Law" is named after. If he had grown up in today's society, he'd be a felon and Intel wouldn't exist. I worry about what we might be losing when we don't allow children to experiment.

Totally agreed. I can hear her in my head saying this: "Well that's the last time I experiment with anything new. I learned my lesson."

And that makes me sad.
