My reaction: I am concerned about China’s nuclear build up, not just of warheads but silo fields. At some point, they expect this to serve as a deterrent in practice. Perhaps they anticipate needing this alongside an invasion of Taiwan. Regarding jet engines - it is interesting that despite decades of efforts, it is still so hard to create competitive engines. I would think this any country with sufficient manufacturing capability could replicate existing engines but apparently not.
