The IT manager that didn't believe in him are the types of people that can't embrace technology, and when you don't embrace technology or at least try, you end up getting fucked. She could have told him to prove it, show an example, etc, but instead she automatically dismissed it and he got the better end of the deal by getting to be lazy for a few days. If she would have looked, commended, and appreciated what he spent effort trying to improve it would've had a better outcome for both parties, but instead he was the only one that got to take advantage of it.
