Longevity enthusiasts want to create their own independent state (technologyreview.com)

I get the idea of wanting to improve longevity but I do not see how moving to a particular state would help. It isn't like they are going to avoid the laws they see as an obstacle. I see this much like the cultists that move to some ranch compound and try to create their own rules. History has shown these do not last long and things usually end very poorly. If anything it gathers all the like minded people into one honeypot.

To get real traction on their idea they should at very least have multiple decent .onion forums each run by different people that discuss verifiable and provable methods of health/life-span improvements and how to create the compounds and methodologies they believe are beneficial and measurable thus allowing everyone to bio-hack from home almost anywhere on earth so to speak. The moderators on these forums must have Mjölnir in one hand at all times while simultaneously creating something appealing to scientists that feel like they have been held back by the friction of money incentivized laws vs true health and safety laws. These forums would draw the ire of pharma and must be secured by people that know what they are doing. i.e. good opsec. Feel free to call me pessimistic but I do not foresee any of this happening.

>The idea is that once enough people with a particular ideology move to a region, their votes can begin to alter regional policies and state laws.

Does anyone else find this a bit strange? How will people of Montenegro[0] see this conquest of their land?

reminded me of Netflix's Wild Wild Country

what would that mean, "aging is 'morally bad'”?

It means that people with way too much time on their hands need a way to justify their new silly obsession :)

i would say then, what a bold way to justify it haha
