For scale, the 8086 had 29,000 transistors.


My first CPU, the 6502, also used in the Apple II, had approx 4500 transistors!


The human brain has 0 transistors!


That isn't really a good example of transistors well spent. You can do 32 bit RISCV or MIPS cpu in the same process node that is 2-6x faster than that 8086 using the same number of transistors.
