What is not very clear to me is whether this now only works for Tetris because the RasPi has to decode the content of the packets, or if you can also just forward whatever comes from the GB to another GB across the internet and call it a day (and use any game)
It decodes the content of the packets.
The game boy serial port essentially executes a transfer in both directions at the same time, so the other side has to have its data ready by the time the transfer starts. Making this generic over the internet would be downright impossible, especially considering some games need to have one of the sides control the clock (when the transfers take place) in order for the game logic to work.
Kind of sucks that a Discord server is created for matchmaking purposes of this awesome open source project. A Matrix room or space would have been much more appropriate.

Let’s make a carbon copy of Pokémon blue/red for regular gameboy except it’s mmo. Users pick red or blue and have to trade to get the missing ones…. Gotta catch ‘em all!
