ask: Would you try HN weekly newsletter?

I thought it would be great to have weekly newsletter since I am wasting a lot of time visiting HN many times a day.

Newsletter comprised of webpages made to the top 30. Comes in pdf format so offline and archival are additional benefits.

Thanks

Not a chance.

I don't care about the top 30 - I browse for things that match my own interests. And depending on what they are, I might care about the linked article or I might care about the comments. Or both.

But a weekly newsletter in PDF form of the top 30 completely misses the mark of what I get out of HN.

Adding to this, is it everything that got to top 30 in the week? If so, the newsletter would be hundreds of items long.

I’ve been subscribed to https://hackernewsletter.com/ for years. I imagine this would be tough to compete with.

Thanks for the mention! It'll be 13 years this year... which is hard to believe.

Thanks for running it! It has been invaluable to keep the FOMO away when I’ve gone through periods of cutting out all social media.

Wouldn’t mind if it’s monthly. Weekly I feel like I would probably know what hit the top.

You could also tag the content so if I wanna see the top AI or hardware or Geopolitics post I could sign up to see those. Some posts that way might filter past just the top 30.

Imo just the top 30 don’t add that much value. Tagged top 30 might, at least for me.

I think this has been done before. I’m not sure how successful it was. If you dig around in the archives I’m sure you’ll find something similar.

Personally, I get more value from the HN comments. So I would find a “top comments” of the week more insightful than just the top links.

I usually check HN twice a day. I think that users of such portal already read everything which potentially could be in this weekly newsletter/

Nah. My interests are varied. I also enjoy the discussion more than the article itself at least half the time.

I'd listen to a weekly podcast of the presenters going through the top stories

this is it

Nope, don't care for top 30

If done right, sure. I used to subscribe (via nntp via rss) to the n-gate HN weekly summary but that died out a couple years ago. But... if there was already a HN newsletter, would that save you time?

No
