It's like watching Trump meltdowns in the middle of the night for four years, but the blast radius is just one company and not the Whole Country, so it's a train wreck that's actually fun to watch.

And since [checks notes] that other guy is back in Twitter, there is now TWO of them Lord have mercy.

To any Twitter engineers, or people with know-how, is Twitter hiring engineers? Yeah, I know, I know, fuck me for wanting to work for that evil bastard, he's the devil incarnate, yada yada. I'm at the point in my life where I want to just put my nose to the grindstone, and my current big tech job doesn't really provide me enough opportunities to do so. Think it could be a great learning opportunity to go join Twitter right now.

If you want to do "office heroics", this isn't it. Office heroics are needed when the management is broken, but sometimes you just work through it, look back, and you can tell yourself "hey, I did that, I did something cool".

This is next level, however. This is management pro-actively trying to sabotage you and create obstacles for no reason, and it's only getting worse.

Stay away.

P.S.: what is this code review nonsense anyway? Twitter has a solid codebase, the site had very good uptime. Why is the "code" the problem here? What is he trying to "fix". Total insanity. Next thing he will announce a "total rewrite" and then it's Game Over for Twitter, for sure.

Can I ask what specifically about Musk is appealing to you that you think will benefit you somehow? It the layoffs aren't a clue then I don't know what is that his workers are nothing more to him than one night stands. You can try to make him happy, but I see him on a downward spiral probably cause of his pedo projecting and incestuous upbringing. Don't be surprised when it all crashes around you and what you thought was an opportunity ended up just hurting your career.

Well, it's pretty simple, it comes down to values. Musk is a man who has done more to advance technology than anybody else I can think of who's alive today. Especially SpaceX - I loved space as a kid, was extremely disappointed and disillusioned with the cancelling of the Constellation program, and now almost entirely due to Musk I am now once again filled with wonder and hope for humanity's future space exploration. And that's to say nothing of his other companies.

So I have a ton of respect and admiration for Musk due to his contributions to humanity, and that far outweighs whatever negative feelings I may have towards him for being a buffoon, or a bad boss, or republican or whatever it is.

It's because I value technology and science very highly. I've been obsessed with this stuff since my childhood. It's pretty clear that other people do not share the same values, which is fine.

As a software engineer I can't really contribute much to SpaceX. But if Musk is able to similarly move the ball forward at a software-only company like Twitter, and come up with innovative technological advancements, then I'm certain that I would regret not being part of that. My current cushy tech job is fine but I'm not moving the ball forward technologically in any way. So you could think of it as chasing a lifelong dream. And if it doesn't work out, that's fine. But first they need to start hiring again :\

Space is not "doing something for humanity". Go out and look what people suffer from.
