Ha I'm glad you said Kotlin! That's actually the language I had in mind when I submitted this question. I've also really enjoyed working with it and find the code to just be super expressive yet very readable. The syntax, built-ins, and JDK library extensions all just make it feel like everything is available exactly the way I would have wished it was.

Despite an interest in learning other programming languages, I've tended to stick with the most popular ones - Java/Kotlin and JS/TS - to benefit from the larger ecosystem of tooling and libraries as well as to have better odds at finding solutions to problems when looking online. I was wondering if Kotlin was just good as far as popular languages go or if it also stacks up against other languages which may be great to work with but have much less adoption. Glad to hear at least one strong opinion suggesting the latter possibility :)
