I assume you mean BSD/386 and successors? BSD itself was first released about eight years before AIX. AIX even has bits of 4.3BSD in it.



Sure; that was just the order I encountered these. I was also surprised that Linux' LVM was basically a clone of AIX' (whereas FBSD's vinum was a clone of Veritas).


IIRC LVM was based on HP-UX, EVMS was based on AIX LVM
