I kind of get your point but please don't try to say that USB-C wasn't a thing until Apple adopted it. It's absolutely false and Apple was just the lame late adopter. They can't even get it right, in 2020, after everyone else had figured it out: https://www.forbes.com/sites/barrycollins/2020/04/24/why-you...

Apple was the first company that adopted USB-C in a laptop which was 2015 12" Macbook.

"adopted" is a strong word. They dipped their toes.

It had no other ports.

As did every new laptop Apple made from then on.

The Macbook 12-inch had only one port which shows they were totally into it in laptops.

iPhone still not switched to USB-C (maybe they never will) and it is a big mistake for Apple.

Some of that may be down to do with the ridiculous press/social media noise that flew around when they change from 30-pin to lightning - once bitten and all of that.

They will have to, the EU will force them.

Decent chance the next iPhone will go portless and only charge wirelessly. So the EU may not get a chance.

Which will still be nice from a standards perspective, since the iPhone uses the Qi standard.

iPhone dropped the Qi standard for rates above 7.5 watts:
