What if the most expensive part of an ISP is the last mile? (Granted, this isn't true in cases like Australia.)


It is, even in Australia. Backhaul and transoceanic links have economies of scale. Last mile doesn't.


The internet subscriber pays for the last mile.


And that's what/all they're paying for, maintenance and upkeep etc. Ooooh. I get it now.
