I know it sounds crazy, but what if there were an ubiquitous solution that everyone was already familiar with and had used many times in the past, a solution that required little thought from developers and behaved consistently everywhere?

Something like... well, a scroll bar, at least before devs started being cute and hiding them for the sole purpose of aesthetics.
