I think the feature is the speed and standardization of the screening process -- the code writing on line probably clears out a lot of incompetents. (Trivial parallels with CPU instruction queues etc inserted here.)

There is nothing wrong with your attitude -- that was way out of line. Don't work for people who doesn't like if you ask questions. (And don't judge the GP as an idiot either, he made some good points but might have had to explain some simple things once too often. :-)
