Ask HN: How to integrate billing *and accounting* in our service?

We're already using stripe and we like it. We're charging our customers and we're happy about it. My question is related to accounting and billing.

What we need is to generate an invoice every month for our customers, make it available for them in their profile (myservice.com/billing), receive their payments, send them a receipt AND integrate that in our own accounting service (that'd count as revenue).

The only accounting software I've seen that has an API is Quickbooks. Wave (the one we currently use) has a closed alpha API. We're doing everything by hand at the moment. It shouldn't be that complicated, right?

Thanks!

We use https://quaderno.io/ and stripe. It connects and syncs to your existing Stripe account and takes care of the regular invoice sending for subscriptions. Invoice layout is customizable. We have a (HTML) link to their service for each customer so they can see their invoice history, update their credit card (again, quaderno really just updates your Stripe records) and download past invoices as PDF. Quaderno has an API as well so you can build your own UI (list invoices, link to past invoices on a cobranded URL).

One key requirement was European tax law: we have to collect tax ids (different format for each country) and do some custom reporting for accounting. Quaderno does that nicely.

Previously used early versions of https://plasso.com/, who again connect to your existing Stripe data.

Thanks so much. Quaderno looks exactly what we need.
