I think a better comparision would be a manuscript about calculus.
If it was produced before Newton/Leibniz it's remarkable, otherwise well... who cares?
After a workday, I used to be repelled by using a computer. I started to use it again when I uninstalled Firefox. Now I just use elinks for basic stuff and I'm happy again to hack or just use a computer again, instead of a bloated web browser.
If I want to do "fancy" things, like book a flight, I just do that on the iPad.
Booking flights via curl sounds like it’s a much better experience than navigating the endless choices, options & dark patterns on a typical airline website.
