Thank you, fantod.

The daily standup is not part of agile.

Agile is defined here: http://agilemanifesto.org/

The manifesto lists principles. Principles must be implemented and turned into processes in order to actually produce software. Scrum's daily stand-up is a process, a tool, to implement the following principle:

"The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation."

And it also contributes to this one:

"The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams."

"The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation."

That statement indicates just how broken the whole idea of "Agile" is.

Does the face-to-face conversation need a daily standup or are there other options?

I believe the daily standup is part of XP (http://www.extremeprogramming.org) which is an Agile Method.

It's part of Scrum, which itself is also an agile method.

The article misses the most obvious reason: insurance/diversification.

If people no longer go to gyms, they don't need to buy lulu.

A lot of people buy Lululemon for the style/comfort/status... not to actually sweat in.

Thanks for using Twitter to remind Mr. Altman of the bet.

Matt,

When will portfolio 1 reach $200B?

Michael

I certainly don’t know.

Yes.

I didn't follow the program exactly, but it was influential in my training (and quick improvement) during my teen years.

It's a shame you stopped playing. I'm sure it would've been interesting to see how the program would have to adapt as you aimed for 2200 and beyond.
