Might it be easier to just add a `last_updated_by` column? Then passing the data to the db is as simple as adding it to the insert and it would be automatically stored in the history table as well without needing any special handling.
I think more interesting is the story of how a young woman did write Frankenstein.
I highly recommend Romantic Outlaws[1] a book which interleaves the lives of Mary Shelly and her mother Mary Wollstonecraft (mentioned in the article as well.) After learning more about her life, I felt authoring Frankenstein was pretty in character for Mary Shelley.
