I just saw her two weeks ago taping her interview for Overheard with Evan Smith. She was in top notch form and had the audience at the edge of our seats and in tears at moments. I am glad I got to go -- but I am sad the world lost Jane.
No - employers are required to pay out paychecks as soon as employment is terminated and if they fail to honor that, they are heavy fines. Days worked is money earned.
When I read this article, I logged into my Netflix account and realized that the value proposition is gone for me. I barely use Netflix, it's always sending me emails reminding me about shows I may/not be interested in, and the features keep getting degraded. Netflix is in the throes of enshittification. If the price goes up, I'll cancel my subscription.

Isn't this Domain Driven Design? I think you understated how easy it is to test in your example. Tests can move from CD to CI because of your architecture. I would love to see more discussions about the tension between scale and test-ability.
We do exactly that at work - Liquibase with SQL for about 7 years now. It's wonderful and you don't have to learn anything on top of your SQL dialect. Also, it makes database-first a breeze since you can export your changes to SQL from any IDE these days and drop it right into a migration.
My bank (USAA) decided to switch their 2FA away from SMS a while ago. They only do email or the USAA app auth code. I love it and I feel much safer with them because of it. Let's do start to move away - yes!
TOTP is not good enough for banking where you really want to confirm specific transactions, not generate codes that an active attacker intercepting your session could use to do anything.
Fair point, but if one declines to install their proprietary apps it just falls back to SMS verification which is obviously terrible.
Kraken (a cryptocurrency exchange) allows you to set up one TOTP token for regular logins, and another, separate one for withdrawals... obviously not as good as individual confirmations but still a heck of a lot better than SMS!
Its bad because 85% of the usecase of 2fa is people using bad passwords. If you use a bad password in one place, you probably are also doing so on your email.
