I agree. In my experience, specifically Vicodin, does almost nothing for inflammation. Ibuprofen has consistently proven more effective when it came to actual pain.

That was extremely entertaining, thank you lol

> Bitcoin may die and not mean a single thing for libertarianism

Exactly. Either the author overestimates Libertarian interest in Bitcoin and/or the article as simply a hit-piece on Libertarianism in general.

I think this article makes a good point. What incentive do bitcoin holders have to use it as a 'currency'? I bought $80 worth of parts for my Raspberry Pi kit (which was essentially free to me due to the increase in BTC value) and I now "deeply regret" it as the author mentions in his article. A friend of mine has 15BTC that he is lothe to spend due to the increasing value of the cryptocurrency market. When will we see stability? Even if prices did stabilize, would we ever see widespread adoption of btc, or any other cryptocurrency for that matter, as a medium of exchange?

Not a meme at all sir. I think it is a good, thoughtful insight that conforms to the Hacker News community standards for what constitutes a "good post" however brief and, according to others, trite it might appear to be.

The inequality that the "wealth equalizing" institutions are intended to prevent end up becoming another cause of inequality. One only look as far as the former Soviet Union. They had "wealth equalizing" institutions as well which created a new privileged class of elites. Those elites were those who owned and operated the "wealth equalizing" institutions.

The article's assertion "extreme wealth inequality is inevitable in a globalizing world unless effective wealth-equalizing institutions are installed on a global scale" is wrong. These institutions would end up creating a new layer of inequality.

The article's premise, therefore, should have been: "wealth inequality is inevitable", full stop.

it's inevitably with assets that are multiplicative. Multiplicative is the important detail.

How much?

That same lawyer no doubt had to tell them that the following statement wouldn't fly without the addition of the word "believes":

"Intel believes its products are the most secure in the world [ . . . ]"

Nicely done. Words like 'is' incur liability because it can be interpreted as making factual statements that you could be held accountable for. Hurry, get your law degree so you can skin Intel alive ;)

Wrong, there are two people who have been cured of HIV. This Berlin patient and Magic Johnson.

Edit - Apparently some people on this site have a very poor sense of humor and apparently take themselves very seriously, as indicated by the down-votes.

Is Magic officially considered "cured"? Is he off meds? Or is he still being treated and has undetectable viral load?

That comment was just an attempt at humor.

Magic Johnson is not cured. He still takes medication and has an undetectable viral load.

I thought it was funny

God, this hits home for me. I have suspicions that my oversharing and fraternization with my co-workers has hurt me and continues to hurt me, in the eyes of my superiors. I have recently been given more responsibility over a coworker whom I am consistently seen hanging out with and sharing with. However rather than take that as a indication that things are moving in the right direction, I'm starting to feel like I missed an official promotion because I look like I can't use discretion. At least I'm starting to see this stuff now. I can't be filling in the downtime at work with sharing at work with coworkers if I want to be seen as management 'material'. All this and I am also just passed year 12.

And trying to do a review for a guy you talk to on a regular basis and come up with a way to bring him 'in line' with the level your boss expects you to evaluate him at? Not fun. Not to mention these evals were revealed to me in confidence to be complete horseshit BY MY OWN BOSS. Anyway I digress.
