Red Rising is a pretty great one, I would have added it to my list.


Red Rising is often recommended in lists such as this, and that is how I discovered it too. Worth noting though that the 3/4 of the first book is Hunger Games on Mars, with barely any significance to the plot started in the first part of the book.


Sequin is a message stream built on Postgres. Unlike a queue, Sequin persists messages so that you can spin up consumers to ingest data at any time. It's comparable to Kafka, but easier to run and use.

In the beginning, taking advantage of existing GCP-provided services to launch a start-up made total sense. Building core services like container registry, block storage, load balancers, or key management would’ve only gotten in the way of building a product.
